In the last
year, the Mount Sinai Diabetes Center has welcomed new physicians, nurse
practitioners, nurses, dieticians, and diabetes educators to our team. Our team
continues to grow to help care for the growing number of patients coming to our
center for their diabetes care.
Dr. Sherley
Abraham is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism as well
as internal medicine. After graduating from the Stony Brook University
School of Medicine, she completed both her residency and a fellowship in hypertension
and lipidology in the Physician-Scientist Training Program at the NYU School of
Medicine followed by a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at
the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include diabetes
during pregnancy, type 1 and 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, high blood pressure,
and high cholesterol.
Seray Bayoh, NP
Seray Bayoh
graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then
earned her Masters in Advance Practice Nursing from Seton Hall University. Ms. Bayoh has been at Mount Sinai since
2013. She is a board certified Family
Nurse Practitioner and is working toward her Diabetes Education Certification.
Her clinical interests include type 1 and 2 diabetes.
Cara Blackhall, BSN, RN, CDE:
Cara
Blackhall graduated from Molloy College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
and has been at Mount Sinai since 2009.
She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in
Medical-Surgical Nursing and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. Ms. Blackhall specializes in educating
patients on lifestyle and health management, diabetes medication administration
and use, insulin infusion pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring.
Dr. Zijian
Chen graduated from Stony Brook University School of Medicine and completed his
residency training at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Montefiore Medical
Center. He completed his clinical fellowship in endocrinology at Beth Israel
Medical Center in New York City. Dr.
Chen’s clinical interests include thyroid disease and type 1 and 2 diabetes.
Camilla Levister, NP, CDE:
Camilla Levister earned a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University and a Masters
in Advanced Practice Nursing from New York University. She completed her Nurse Practitioner Clinical
work at New York – Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner
and Certified Diabetes Educator and has experience as an insulin pump and
continuous glucose monitor trainer. Ms.
Levister is a co-investigator for several research studies in diabetes, which
take place at Mount Sinai.
ReshmiSrinath, MD
Dr. Reshmi Srinath graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Duke University Hospital and afellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her research during fellowship explored the relationship between endogenous testosterone and coronary heart disease, body composition, and metabolic syndrome in men. Her clinical interests include obesity, thyroid disease, diabetes, and hormonal changes associated with aging. She is board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine.
Shelley Wishnick
RD, CDN, CDE
Ms. Shelley
Wishnick earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Indiana University –
Bloomington. She then went on to complete her dietetic internship at New
York-Presbyterian Hospital. She is a registered dietitian with the Academy of
Nutrition and Dietetics, a NYS Certified Nutritionist, and Certified
Diabetes Educator with the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.
She provides
counseling to those with type 1, type 2, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes.
Shelley will assist you in leading a healthy lifestyle without dieting, while striving
for optimal glucose control.
